Corpus Christi Texas Waterfront

Corpus Christi was founded in 1839 as a Trading Post and named by Spanish explorers.  It became a deep water port on the Gulf of Mexico in 1925.

The port is the center of oil and agricultural exports.  The Eagle Ford Oil Shale deposits supply two major oil company refineries.

The city has a large waterfront area.

The marina is the center for shrimp and pleasure boats.

The waterfront park provides entertainment for
everyone including these children learning how to sail.

USS Lexington Aircraft Carrier built in 1943 and is now
a historical landmark open for tours.

The ship served in the Pacific Theatre during WWII.  It was nicknamed the
"Blue Ghost" after the enemy thought it had been sunk by a plane attack.

The white sand beach with palms
neighboring the USS Lexington.

Finished our day at Snoopy's Restaurant
next to Corpus Christi Bay.

One of our favorite fish & chips spot with ambiance and views.
