Yellowstone National Park Hayden Valley

Enroute to Hayden Valley, we followed the lower loop road from West to East.

Gibbon Falls drops 84 ft.

Hayden Valley was a former lake bed on Yellowstone River Plateau.

The grasslands are definitely "Home on the Range" for buffalo.
This herd was taking an afternoon nap and some were taking a dust bath.

Bison also called buffalo graze in the Hayden Valley.
In August the males charge and bang heads in completion for the ladies.

Bison grow in height up to 6 ft. and 10 ft. in length.
They weigh 900 to 2200 lbs.

On the roadside hill these guys were fussing with each other.
All of a sudden the bison charged downhill toward our car.

Quick picture ...... we moved out of their way.

On the road behind us, they created a "wildlife jam."
This tourist didn't realize how much danger she was in taking a picture.

Park Ranger in an ambulance trying to clear the road by taping her siren.

Excitement over ..... back to lunch chopping on the sweet grass.
