On our way to a sunny day on the beach. A short drive from Rockport to the ferry dock and a five minute ride across the channel.
Port Aransas is the only town on Mustang Island with a population of about 3,500 people. Two ship channels make up the surrounding waters to Corpus Christi Bay. Mustang Island is one of the barrier islands along the Texas coast.
Fishermen and pelicans compete for the best catch of the day.
This guy caught a fish a little to hard to handle. It took him several minutes to swallow his lunch. Note the fish tail.
Couple caught a "keeper" fish 15 1/2 inches long.

A sailboat at the jetty entrance ready to take on the Gulf of Mexico waves.

Sea shell collectors stopped to watch a tanker heading out to sea.

A sunbather using his car to block the wind.
Nice long quiet walk down the beach.
RV owners having lunch with a view of the ship channel activity. The post barriers now keep people from camping on the beach overnight.
Adjacent to the beach is a county campground.
Another good walk is a path on the jetty.
Back to the ferry dock the Municipal Park Harbor was an active spot for fishermen.
Some fishermen have homes at the harbor's edge with private docks for their boats.
The municipal park was packed with Winter Texans visiting from at least 15 northern states and Canada.
