Santa Rosa, New Mexico


The original highway was built 1926 and started in 
Chicago, Illinois to Los Angeles, California.




Route 66 traveled 2,451 miles and passed through Santa Rosa.



Billboards were on the rocks in this area.


Local museum showed cars that might have traveled on Route 66.







Santa Rosa is known for this desert oasis
where scuba divers and others enjoy the warm clear pure water.








Downtown historic 1909 Romanesque style courthouse..


The St. Rosa of Lima Chapel dates from early 1800's.  
In 1907 it was replaced with a newer structure.

The cemetery is still used and is a mix of old and new burials.

Canton, Texas

Canton is known for First Monday Trade Days.

A town of 3,800 residents once a month host
100,000 to 400,000 visitors who shop at this huge flea market.


Approximately 100 acres and up to 6,000 vendors who offer goods for sale. 
It is the largest and oldest continually operated flea market in the United States..


It started over 150 years ago when a circuit judge came to town on the 
first Monday of the month for trials. 
Locals came to town to watch trials and trade or sell their goods.

Today the First Monday Trade Days are really held on Thursday - Sunday
 before the first Monday of the month.

 Meteor Crater RV Park is near Winslow, Arizona

Access to the RV park is through this narrow gate attached to long fence..

Nice long level pull through sites for RV's.


Down the road is the Barringer Crater which dropped in 50,000 years ago.  

Daniel Barringer was a miner who discovered the crater about 100 years ago.  
Barringer family company still owns it privately.

The Crater is 1 miles
1 mile across and 500 ft. deep. 
It is located in Northern Arizona high desert.  

NASA  astronauts trained here for the Apollo Mission to moon.

St George Utah

St. George is the home to the Latter Day Saints Temple 
 commenced 1871 and dedicated 1877




Brigham Young, religious leader, settler and politician 
had this Tabernacle built in 1871.

The Lover's Gate.  
The locks you see represent couples who declare their love for each other. It is a custom started in Asia and Europe.  We saw similar locks in France and Italy on past trips.
