Autumn weather hit Yellowstone with a bang on our last day.
A low of 36 degrees convinced us to move south to Utah.
Heber City and Midway are neighboring towns located
in a peaceful alpine valley in the Wasatch Mountain Range.
The towns are 50 miles east of Salt Lake City and 20 miles south of Park City.
The current town hall in Heber City was a former church.
Heber City was founded by 18 Mormon families in 1864.
Heber City town center has a large park for family enjoyment.
In Midway, this barn was built in 1902 by an
English emigrant who operated a dairy farm.
Building materials used were local red pine and native rock.
The historic railroad was built in 1899 to carry pioneers who settled in the valley. Between the 1930-40, the train transported sheep to the community.
In 1970's the train was renamed the "Heber Creeper" and converted to recreation use for tourists to tour the valley.

Homestead Resort and the Crater Springs Golf Course
located next to The Crater, a mineral spring attraction.
Staircase leading to the top of the crater which is a 55 ft tall dome shaped limestone rock estimated to be 10,000 years old.

The crater attracts scuba divers, paddle board yoga classes and swimmers
who enjoy mineral bathtub water at 90 degrees year round.

Twenty three skiing events were held at Midway's Soldier Hollow
during the 2002 Winter Olympics.
Two hundred thousand spectators watched cross country,
biathlon ski portions of the Nordic combined events
Today this area is the Soldier Hollow Golf Course.
Two 18 hole golf courses.
