At the lower Geyser Basin a forest of pole post pines bake in hot water.
Patches of grass able to survive in the hot mineral water.
Fountain Paint Pots add color to the surroundings.
Thin crust and scalding water around Silex Pot.
Hydro thermal geysers, hot springs and bubbling mud pots are a mixture of gas, heat, water, volcanic rock, minerals, acid and microorganisms.
Mud pots are thin and splash in the spring.
Later in the season the pots become thick and bubbly.
Gases venting from Fountain Paint Pot causes a loud wind noise.
Red Spouter was born August 17, 1959 caused by
an earthquake 25 miles away.

which is many centuries old.
Great Fountain Geyser spouts every 11-12 hours.
