About 50 miles east of Mesa Verde is the town of Durango, Colorado.
Our new backyard view of the San Juan Mountains and ranch land.
The San Juan Mountains surround the Animas Valley.
Downtown depot for the
Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad.
The railroad is 133 years old and uses Coal-fired steam engine locomotives
to pull historic rail cars 3,000 ft in elevation gain to Silverton.
Old technology does have it's problems.
We enjoyed the whistle in the distance each morning and afternoon.
