Moab Downtown, Surrounding Area and Portal Campground

Moab, Utah is located on the Colorado Plateau.  The city is a magnet
for year round outdoor activities.  People enjoy mountain biking, hiking,
river rafting and four wheel drive vehicles which have
access to 40 miles of jeep trails.

Main street is lined with many outdoor restaurants and shops.

All terrain vehicles commonly known as ATV's
are licensed to drive on public streets.

Private homes have great views of the canyon vistas.

Green River flows around the outskirts of town.

Nearby is Moonflower Canyon.

This Utah State Park has primitive tent sites available for campers.

Native Americans used this crack in the rock to climb to the plateau top.

Note the person climbing the pole ladder.

Notched poles were used in ancient times as ladders.

Petroglyphs of people, deer and sheep carved in the red stone rock cliffs.

The campground where we parked has a duel design.
One side is a campground and the other side have lots for purchase.

This side is the regular campground.

The other side is for RV'rs that want permanent residence.  We assumed the three story were for the views and many guests.

Moon light and sun reflecting off the red rock.

This family choose to build a covered patio.

Everyone in the family gets into the ATV action.
The two year old even has his own red four wheeler.
