Midway, Kentucky

Midway was the first town in Kentucky to be founded by a railroad company.

In 1830, the Lexington and Ohio Railroad Company established
a train hub at the halfway point between towns of Lexington and Frankfort.

The main street of Midway was actually the railroad track
with businesses on both sides.

Landscaping softens the look of the track.

The red painted train flies through town with horns blasting!

Visitors  and locals didn't seem to mind the train.

The Railroad Drug and Olde Time Soda Fountain is a favorite shop.

Many small details on buildings and gardens between stores
make for an attractive setting.

Antique Store

The Old Train Depot was converted to Darlin' Jeans restaurant.
