National Museum of Prehistoric

In the town of Les Eyzies de Tayac is home to the
National Museum of Prehistoric.

Modern museum houses more than 18,000 bones, stones and crude drawings
which were uncovered locally.

The Museum takes you through prehistory starting 400,000 years ago.

Nariokotome boy from Kenya Africa dated 1.5 million years ago.

In nearby cave cliffs inhabited by humans for 35,000 years.

Our dentist would appreciate how well this person took care of his teeth.

Life size recreation of Megaloceros a gigantic deer with even bigger antlers.

Cro Magnon people used arrows to hunt.

Some people used shells to decorate their clothes

Ten years ago we were able to visit a cave but today only 50 people are allowed in the caves per day.  The museum has replicates of the cave drawings on the walls.
Notice how the drawings are in 3 D.

Red was a common color to create their paintings in their caves.
