Amboise is on both sides of the Loire River with 14,000 population.

The amazing structures and pampered life surrounding the powerful of their time, but they were no more safe from disease, at least once it struck, than the poorest among them. And the stratification of wealth and extreme poverty that was accepted on a day-to-day basis, with little challenge. It looks like a fairy tale, but imaginary witches weren't needed for evil... Even so, a visit now does allow us to fantasize the magical beauty of fairy tales. Lovely.
